The researchers have developed plasma-based disinfectants produced with the help of plasma cold atmospheric pressure (lid) that can act as green contaminants for Covid-19.Pandemic Covid has raised the urgent need for De-contaminants that can limit the spread of infectious diseases through contacts. However, most of the de-contaminants consist of harmful chemicals for the environment.

This encourages the research team to look for a greener alternative. They show that plasma produced by cold atmospheric pressure (lid) has the potential to deactivate the SARS-COV-2 surge protein, which binds to human Ace2 receptors to induce viral infections and subsequent Covid-19.

Plasma, the four material conditions that make up most of the universe, when produced in controlled conditions in the lab are referred to as plasma cold atmospheric pressure (lid). Scientists pass through plasma gases form helium, argon and air through high voltage electric fields, which cause stable plasma formation with a mixture of ions, and electrons emit pink light from the reaction room.

The team of scientists included Kamatchi Sankarananananan, Mojibur, Mojibur, and H Bailung from the psychology and the physics division of the Institute of Advanced Studies in Science and Technology (IASST), an autonomous research institute from the Department of Science and Technology (DST) in Guwahati, Assam.

This study was recently published in the International Journal of the RSC (Royal Society of Chemistry) showed that “Oxygen species and nitrogen are very short-lived (ROS / RN) produced in plasma causing complete deactivation of SARS-COV-2. Protein Spike occurs in Time two minutes processing cap. RT-PCR analysis has also determined that the lid can disable the RNA from the SARS-COV-2 virus. “

The researchers showed that the lid, plasma-based disinfection methods were a better alternative for better environmental-based chemical-based chemical-based methods. “The cold atmospheric plasma is safe for the environment because, during the process of de-contamination with plasma treatment, no chemical waste produced,” said this research.

The main writer of Sankaranarayan and Bailung said the further disinfection method could be expanded for various bacterial or fungal infections. This research was conducted at the Covid-19 IASST testing and research facility, which according to Ashis K. Mukherjee’s director, has done more than 1.54 lakh tests to date.
