Vaccination for 15-18 age group: CoWin registration set to begin from today

India is ready to start Cowin registration for Covid-19 vaccination for children aged 15 to 18 years from Saturday. The government says either walk-in and online registration will be available for the vaccination of children, which will begin to get a dose of Covid-19 on January 3.

While Cowin registration will start from Saturday, registration at the place will start from the day of vaccination i.e. January 3 itself.

According to government guidelines, children can order slots on the Cowin application using their ID card starting January 1.

Dr. R S Sharma, Head of the Cowin platform, previously said that besides Aadhaar and other national identity cards, children can use their 10th grade ID card for registration.

On Tuesday, the Union Health Secretary led the workshop through video conferencing with all state and regional union (UTS) to review the launch of vaccination for the age group 15-18 and the third dose of caution for the vulnerable category – cooperation line workers (HCW), (HCW) FLW), and those who aged 60 age groups have co-morbidity.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the address broadcast on television on December 25, 2021, announced that children aged 15-18 years will begin to get a vaccine against Covid-19 from January 3, 2022, and health workers and frontline workers will begin to receive doses caution from January 10.

Covaxin Bharat Biotech, which has been given approval for limited use in emergency situations in the age group between 12 and 18 years, is the only vaccine available for children.

The center also advises the country to build a separate Dedicated Covid-19 vaccination center for children aged 15-18 while separate vaccination teams and separate queues to be maintained at all other CVCs.
