“Alaska Is Ours” Sign Appears In Russian City, Internet Shocked

The sign that reads “Alaska Is Ours” has been seen in Russian Krasnoysk, the day after President Putin’s key allies said that the country could reclaim Alaska which was sold to the United States in 1867. Photos of billboards have become viral on social media, with users who are said “They are really crazy”. Krasnoysk is located in the Yenisei River in Russia Siberia. Since Russia launched a military invasion in Ukraine, several such statements have emerged in the media from the allies of Putin.
According to a report in Newsweek, residents of Krasnoysk were surprised after seeing the billboard crossing the city on Thursday. But they did not seem to be placed by the Russian government.
Krasnoysk Restaurant Vladimir Vladimirov told the local news agency NGS24 that the billboard had been ordered by “several patriot”, reported Newsweek.
It turned out to be a local company called “Alaska”. Commenting on the NGS24 post, he claims responsibility for the billboard.
A threatening billboard appeared only a day after Putin and Russian Parliament Chair Duma Vyacheslav Volodin suggested that Moscow be able to “take back” Alaska as a retaliation for economic sanctions imposed by the West after the country’s invasion of Ukraine.
Western countries led by the US have criticized Russia and Putin for attacking Ukraine, which has created the worst humanitarian crisis since the Second World War. The war in Ukraine has caused hundreds of thousands of Ukrains to leave their homeland and live as refugees in other countries.
Angry at Russia’s move, the West imposed sanctions that had never happened before to Moscow, paralyzed his economy and led to many large brands that withdrew from the country.
Alaska was once part of Russia. On March 30, 1867, the United States reached an agreement to buy Alaska from Russia at a price of $ 7.2 million, according to the US Congress Library.
