Pak govt warns of mobile, internet services shutdown amid power crisis
The Pakistani National Information Technology Council (NITB) has warned about killing cellular services and the internet in the midst of power outages in this country.
“Telecommunications operators in Pakistan have warned about killing cellular services and the internet because the power outage is nationally, because the disturbance causes problems and obstacles in their operations,” Nitb wrote on Twitter.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warned the country that they might face increased burden in July, Geo News reported.
“Pakistan cannot get the necessary supply of liquid natural gas (LNG), however, the coalition government is trying to make the agreement possible,” said PM.
The country has faced a crisis of power because it failed to approve an agreement for the national gas supply next month. Refinitiv data has shown that the country struggles to buy LNG for power plants in the middle of a heat wave that drives demand, reporting Geo News.
In an effort to increase energy conservation, the Pakistani government has cut work hours for civil servants and ordered shopping centers to the factory to be closed at the beginning of various cities, including Karachi.
“The government spoke to Qatar about the new or 10 -year LNG supply agreement for three monthly cargo, as well as additional cargo under the existing agreement,” said Pakistani Finance Minister Miftah Ismail.
Inflation in Pakistan entered a two -digit sign in July, the biggest spike in almost six years.
