Drugs case: Bikram Majithia surrenders, sent to Patiala jail
Additional districts and judge Sandeep Kumar Singla sessions returned Majithia in judicial detention for two weeks. Akali leader transfers the application for regular guarantees, which will be taken on Friday, said the advice Arshdeep Singh Kler. The APEX court recently directed the state police not to arrest it until February 23 so he could campaign in the state.
After the court permit, sitting led by AIG Balraj Singh interrogated Majithia for more than an hour. He was then taken to a civil hospital for a medical examination before being shifted to Sangrur Prison. At night, the police took him to Patiala Jail.
Sangrur SP (prison) Manjit Singh cannot be contacted. A sad spokesman Winnerjit Goldy said, “Majithia has shifted to Patiala for security reasons. The government has registered a case that is unfounded against it.”
Majithia, meanwhile, reiterated he had been involved in the case of the Congress government as a political vendetta action. A number of sad supporters led by NK Sharma legislators and Kanwarjit Singh Rozy Barkandi were present at the court complex.
In Patiala, Majithia was given a speech greeted by akali worker. He waved on his supporters who raised his favorable slogans. Sources say Majithia has been submitted in the cell intended for VIP.
The case against the three-time legislator was registered in December last year under various parts of the NDPS law based on the head of the Harpreet Singh Sidhu Special Task Force. The latter was submitted to the Punjab High Court and Haryana in 2018, and since stored under WRAPS.
